Manufacturing Engineer – Plastics Manufacturing

$85,000 | First Shift | Full-Time  Canton, Ohio

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll serve as the technical leader supporting manufacturing operations by improving productivity, quality, safety, and equipment performance.

Safety focus 
Experience with OSHA compliance, Safety Programs/Systems, and Risk Assessment

Experienced in training in topics such as:

  • Lockout-Tagout
  • Fork Truck Safety
  • Hazardous Communications
  • PPE

Responsibilities include:

  • Optimize plastics manufacturing processes to improve quality, cycle times, throughput, and material utilization.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement permanent process improvements.
  • Support injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, thermoforming, or similar plastics manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate recurring manufacturing issues.
  • Evaluate molds, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes to maximize performance.
  • Support capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
  • Improve plant safety through OSHA compliance, risk assessments, machine guarding, and LOTO initiatives.
  • Assist with facility improvements, preventive maintenance strategies, and equipment reliability.
  • Support environmental compliance and sustainable manufacturing initiatives.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve operational performance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with one or more plastics processes including:
    • Injection Molding
    • Blow Molding
    • Extrusion
    • Thermoforming
  • Strong process improvement and root cause analysis experience.
  • Experience working with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years in plastics manufacturing.
  • Process optimization, mold validation, tooling improvements, and resin optimization.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • CMMS and preventive maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge of EPA and environmental compliance requirements.
